Aspiring Educators – A PDE approved teacher education program in Career and Technical Education that combines theory work, led by a master-teacher, with interactive field-experiences across all grade levels. The program will work in conjunction with teacher preparation programs at nearby colleges and universities. Successful completion of the program will afford students articulation and dual enrollment credit opportunities.

Aspiring Educators will be offered to juniors and seniors from the Derry Area, Greater Latrobe and Ligonier Valley School Districts. The program is designed for academically inclined students who plan to attend college and major in education. Applications are now being accepted to the program which will begin for the 2026-27 school year.

Aspiring Educators will attend their respective high schools for half of the day to complete their core academic classes. The Aspiring Educator program will be delivered on both the EWCTC and Derry Area School District campuses for the other half of the day. Clinical experiences will occur on the campuses of all three sending schools. Transportation will be provided, or students may drive with proper permissions.
